YORK estate agent Churchills has been named the estate agent with the most sold signs in the city in a recent independent survey.

The data study by SavvyAgent, which provides real-time sales and lettings data for every UK estate agent, has revealed Churchills boasted a leading 8.24 per cent share of the ‘sold sign market’ during October 2015.

Of a total of 51 estate agents included in the comparison study, Churchills, which has offices in Acomb, Bishopthorpe Road and Gillygate, sold more properties (subject to contract) across the postcode areas of YO32, YO31, YO30, YO26, YO24, YO23, YO10 and YO1 in October.

It is the second year running that the family-owned estate agent has achieved this feat. In an October 2014 report by independent research company For Sale Sign Analysis, Churchills was also named the top estate agent for the highest number of sold signs displayed.

The news comes as Churchills has helped secure the future of Wheldrake Village Hall by donating £5,000 towards a new roof.

The money will be used for essential refurbishment work on the building’s roof, which was deemed structurally unsafe by engineers earlier this year, with a repair cost of £60,000.

Villagers have raised £45,000 through donations and a Raise the Roof fundraising appeal led to an anonymous donor pledging to provide £10,000 if a local business would donate the final £5,000.

Kevin Webb, managing director at Churchills said: "We are very happy to help the Raise the Roof appeal reach its final target.

"Village Halls play an integral part in local communities and we are an independent, family-run firm with strong local roots and we jumped at the opportunity to give back to the communities we serve.”
