LANGLEYS Solicitors in York has appointed Edward Allen as an assistant solicitor in its private client unit.

Edward joins Langleys from Sandersons Solicitors in Beverley where he worked for two years in its private client practice. Prior to this, he trained and qualified at Kuit Steinart Levy, Manchester.

Hugh Thompson, senior associate in private client at Langleys, said: “Edward brings considerable private client experience to our team where his role will include a particular focus on estate planning and probate.”

Edward is studying for the STEP Diploma in Wills and Estates – an industry standard in private client work.

NATIONAL property consultant Carter Jonas has appointed a new senior valuer to its residential team in Harrogate.

A member of the National Association of Estate Agents, Alistair Hogben joins the firm from York based estate and land agents RM English. With a background in property valuation, business development and financial advice, he was previously business development manager with property management companies SitexOrbis Limited and Ad Hoc Property Management.

At Carter Jonas, Mr Hogben, who lives in York, will work within the residential team providing advice to house buyers and sellers.

PAUL Fearn is celebrating 21 years in the plumbing and heating industry by accepting a key management role in his home city of York.

Mr Fearn, 37, has been appointed manager of the new £250,000 branch of the fast-expanding James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot chain, in Layerthorpe Road.

And the former Fulford Comprehensive School pupil not only helped his new employer find the prime premises, he has also spent several weeks getting everything ready for when the branch opens this month, marking the opening of James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot's 43rd site.

Sales director Bill Davies said: "York is an exciting new location for us and Paul fits the bill perfectly through his local knowledge, great experience and real drive. We believe our latest branch is in very capable hands."
