DESIGN teams at York theme park builder Paragon Creative are part way through a £5 million deal to create the world's first Motiongate attraction in Dubai.

The Elvington-based company is part of the Paragon Entertainment group, which earlier this week revealed it had won the contract when it announced a trading update to the market.

Paragon Creative, the group's core subsidiary, which specialises in visitor attraction design, production and fit out, yesterday released further details of the order from Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Paragon has been tasked to work on the elements of the DreamWorks zone within the Motiongate Dubai theme park – one of three theme parks within the entire destination.

The design and theming team at Paragon started work on the £5 million project in September, focusing on five show set areas within the park, which will take production into 2016.

Paragon’s projects are based on the popular films Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar, as well as a number of other setworks areas and activations.

Mark Pyrah, chief executive of Paragon Entertainment said: "We are delighted to be working with Dubai Parks and Resorts to support this incredible and world class project.

"Dubai Parks and Resorts has created a team comprising of some of the best industry talent and it’s a privilege that a Yorkshire company is part of the delivery line up. We look forward to an exciting, fruitful and rewarding relationship."

Motiongate Dubai will be a Hollywood movie inspired theme park concept.

Peter Rahill, director of Hill International (Middle East) Ltd. said: "We have been in discussion with Paragon for six months and have chosen a work scope that best fits their skill base. We are delighted to have their facility and capacity to deliver these demanding projects."

Paragon group's previous projects have included the design and build of the new Olympic Museum for the IOC in Lausanne Switzerland, the design and build of the Titanic exhibition, the build of the Wallace and Gromit ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the design and build company of the Lionsgate SAW ride at Thorpe Park for Merlin.
