A YORK construction company dating back more than 90-years is hoping to continue its run of award success.

Established in 1922, SIMPSON York now employs a team of 178, and is hoping to take home the title of Large Business of the Year in the Press Business Awards.

The business has already secured award wins this year after attending the Considerate Constructors Scheme Site Awards, which recognises Construction sites committed to raising the bar for considerate construction.

Winning a National site awards is an exceptional achievement and SIMPSON was pleased to successfully secure a Silver Award for its work and commitment during the course of the 52 week £8 million redevelopment at the York Art Gallery, adhering to the 5 point code, promoting Construction positively throughout the course of the work.

Following on from the success at the Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards, SIMPSON attended the Committed to Construction in Humber & West Yorkshire Awards Ceremony in Leeds, and was successful in winning the Corporate Social Responsibility Award, which was presented to the organisation that in recognition of their core business activities have continual involvement supporting local groups, schools, charities and activities.

The success follow a number of accolades achieved during 2014, when SIMPSON received confirmation from Retail Week that it was ranked 5th in the UK fit out league table.

The year also saw Paul Tutty, SIMPSON project manager receive the Silver Award in the £2-£4 million category, at the High Profile Chartered Institute of Building Construction Manager of the Year Awards for his work on the Everyman Cinema in the Trinity Centre, Leeds.

Following on from this success SIMPSON was delighted to receive the Small Employer of the Year Award (up to 250 Employees) at the York Apprentices and Apprentice Employers Ceremony held at the York Minster, in recognition of their commitment to training, apprenticeships and work in support of construction careers in the York area.

Matthew Hodgson, SIMPSON joinery apprentice was a finalist in the Apprentice of the Year under 25 category.

SIMPSON was also proud to receive the Highly Commended Small Medium Enterprise Apprentice Employer of The Year Award at the National Construction Industry Training Board Apprenticeship Awards 2014.
