AN arts project is seeking to tune into new levels of corporate support through a new office-based scheme.

As part of its corporate sponsorship packages, the York Arts Barge Project is offering businesses Gigs At Your Desk to liven up normal working days.

The Arts Barge Project is raising funds to convert a barge into an arts venue for York and is looking for £9,000 to support its Riverside Festival which is a major fundraiser for the project taking place from July 29 to August 2 this year.

Arts Barge director Hannah West said: "We wanted to give businesses something unique that not only uses the creative talents of our amazing team of artists and musicians here, but also provides businesses with some feel good opportunities to enhance staff well-being in the workplace.

Staff from York branding and design agency United by Design were visited by the Art’s Barge’s band Hyde Family Jam.

Studio manager Lucy Artley said: "The Arts Barge musicians really added a sense of fun to our day. We've been delighted to be corporate sponsors of The Arts Barge Project for several years now and very much support the idea of an arts venue for York.

"At United By Design we see the arts as vital to the well-being of our society and encourage other businesses to also support this exciting project."
