YORK creative construction and manufacturing company Stage One has been ranked top company in Yorkshire for the fastest growing international sales.

The Tockwith-based firm, which this year created the UK pavilion at the Milan Expo, and is famed for creating the Olympic cauldron for the London 2012 Games, features at number 13 in the latest Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table, published yesterday.

The highest ranking of the 15 Yorkshire firms featured in the list, Stage One has seen international sales climb 129 per cent per annum, to £20.5 million last year.

Collectively the 15 Yorkshire firms in the list have added 1,640 jobs and now employ a total of 12,370 people.

Their international sales have grown by an average of 40 per cent a year over two years to a total of £980 million, on combined sales of £2.2 billion.

Eight companies make their debut on the list, including Wensleydale Dairy Products, the Dales-based creamery that produces Yorkshire Wensleydale.

R&R Ice Cream also appears for the first time, after international sales rose to £478.1 million last year. The company, based in Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire, is the world’s third largest manufacturer of ice cream.
