DIRECTORS and staff at a North Yorkshire brewery are celebrating after winning a contract to supply selected Marks & Spencer stores throughout the region.

The listing for Hunmanby based Wold Top Brewery means that its India Pale Ale, Scarborough Fair and blonde beer, Wold Gold will now be stocked in 67 stores across Yorkshire.

The contract comes off the back of listings with Sainsbury's and Waitrose, as well as a contract win last year to supply 112 Morrisons stores.

Brewery owner Tom Mellor said: "We are delighted that two of our best-selling beers are now available in Marks & Spencer and we're hoping that they will sell very well."

Wold Gold, 4.8 per centABV, is made from Wolds grown barley, wheat and Cara malt with Goldings and Styrian hops. It won three gold stars from the Guild of Fine Food in its Taste Awards in 2013.

Scarborough Fair IPA, six per cent ABV, is a traditional, strong and well hopped beer that is brewed with a pale Wold grown malt base, a triple hop blend and maize for head retention. It was awarded two gold stars by the Guild of Fine Food in its Taste Awards in 2014.

Farm based Wold Top Brewery is part of the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) scheme for environmental initiatives and is also working closely with the RSPB to promote its birdlife.

Its range of award winning ales is also available through the website, independent and multiple retailers, farm shops, delis, hotels, pubs and off licences.
