A COUPLE who set up a "glamping" holiday business on the outskirts of York eight years ago have opened a second outdoor venture.

Husband and wife team Christian and Carolyn Van Outersterp, have launched North Star Club, at Sancton in East Yorkshire, as a sister site to its Jollydays venture in Buttercrambe.

The couple say North Star Club takes ‘glamping’ to the next level, and has teamed up with neighbouring local business to add to the service.

Yorkshire Food Finder and The Star at Sancton are offering hampers of locally sourced food, while The Sedborough Soap Company, based in the Yorkshire Dales, will supply organic toiletries and local manufacturer Beevers, based in Whitby has handmade each of the suite’s beds.

Managing director, Carolyn Van Outersterp said: "North Star Club has been a real labour of love for us, and we’re thrilled to see it come to fruition.

"Since we launched Jollydays Glamping eight years ago we’ve known the next venture needed to be something equally as unique and original, and North Star Club is just that.

"We moved from London to Yorkshire 12 years ago and were immediately welcomed by the local people we met in those first few years – we’re now extending that same warm Yorkshire reception to our guests and we’re pleased to be doing so by supporting local businesses too."
