THE employment team at Langleys Solicitors has boosted its ranks with the appointment of assistant solicitor Lyndsey Crook.

Ms Crook has more than five years’ experience advising clients on a range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters including undertaking advocacy in employment tribunals.

Ms Crook previously worked as an assistant solicitor at Ford & Warren, Leeds where she qualified in 2011. Prior to that, she worked as a paralegal in the employment department at Walker Morris, Leeds.

Before joining Langleys, Ms Crook studied for a Masters in Law at Leeds Beckett University, specialising in discrimination on the grounds of religion and belief.

RECYCLING and waste management company Yorwaste has appointed a new group operations director, who will have responsibility for a team of more than 200 people.

Geoff Derham succeeds Steve Barker, who was recently promoted to be Yorwaste managing director.

Mr Derham, 52, who has joined from City of York Council where he was head of waste and fleet services, will be responsible for leading and developing all of the Yorwaste Group operations, including its waste and recycling sites and vehicle fleet.

Mr Derham, who is married with two children and lives in Drax, Selby, started his career with Selby City Council and one of his first jobs was as a refuse collector. He also worked for private waste company Onyx (now Veolia).

LLOYDS Bank Commercial Banking has appointed Glenn Bemment as mid markets area director for North, East and West Yorkshire.

Mr Bemment replaces Steve Harris, who has been appointed as the bank’s new managing director in the North of England.

Mr Bemment moves to the role following a two-year period as area director for Lloyds Bank in Merseyside, where he was responsible for mid-sized businesses and large corporates with turnovers between £25 million and £750 million.

In his new position, Mr Bemment will lead a team of 24, responsible for a client base that includes some of the Yorkshire’s largest listed companies such as Persimmon plc, Cranswick plc and Fenner Plc, as well as many family owned and private equity backed businesses.
