CHOCOLATE entrepreneur Sophie Jewett who founded York Cocoa House has been named Young Director of the Year at a regional awards event.

Ms Jewett took the title at the Institute of Directors Yorkshire and Humber Director of the Year awards.

Held at the Hilton Hotel in Sheffield, and attended by more than 160 guests, the event recognised the achievements of Ms Jewett who has created her cafe and chocolate making business in Blake Street.

Ms Jewett said: "It is really amazing to have recognition for the journey we have gone on so far.

"It's quite overwhelming to get such an acknowledgement but it is really down to the amazing team I have been so fortunate to work with that has enabled us to achieve what we have."

The Director of the Year awards are recognised as one of the highest honours for business leaders.

The winners now go forward to the national IoD Director of the Year awards, where they will compete against winners from across the UK.
