YORK-based developer S Harrison has started work on a £5 million build to create a new store in North Yorkshire that will create 30 new jobs.

Based in Bishopthorpe Road, S Harrison won the contract to build the new B&M store in Catterick Garrison, working with construction firm Lindum York.

The 25 week build programme will see a 25,000 sq ft new store in Gough Road, adjacent to Catterick Leisure centre and the Tesco Extra store at Richmondshire Walk, which was first developed by S Harrison in 2000.

B&M is expected to open for business in Autumn 2015, with the neighbouring Prince’s Gate development is scheduled to open later this year.

Steve McManaman, project manager, at S Harrison, said: "The addition of new budget retail store opposite the entrance to the popular leisure centre is a natural extension of the successful retail and leisure campus – the final piece of the jigsaw to give Catterick Garrison the town centre that it has so long deserved.

"We are delighted to have secured expanding retailer B&M as tenants for the new unit."
