York’s St Leonard’s Hospice has appointed Dawn Clements as director of fundraising.

Originally from Oxfordshire and educated in York, Ms Clements joins the hospice from a similar role at Yorkshire Cancer Research.

After university Ms Clements worked for a large international retailer in various management positions, eventually heading the community and national charities division of a supermarket chain.

Martyn Callaghan, chief executive of St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dawn to the important post of director of fundraising at the hospice.

“We know she will bring many strengths, enthusiasm and new ideas to the hospice, which this year celebrates 30 years of serving the community.”

A York hotel has turned to one of the city’s young chefs to launch its new restaurant.

Ben Allnutt, who has worked in a number of AA Rosette establishments, will lead the Best Western Monkbar kitchen brigade when it unveils a new look restaurant and menu in a few weeks’ time. The hotel, which this year celebrates its silver anniversary, is in the final phase of a £3 million upgrade and expansion programme.

Part of the scheme is the transformation of the Monkbar’s food and beverage provision, which will see the existing Cloisters restaurant and bar replaced by a new Yorkshire Bar & Grill concept.

North Yorkshire law firm McCormicks of Harrogate has a new solicitor.

Daniel Bisby joined the practice in 2011, going on to be given a training contract, and has now qualified as a solicitor. He will focus on employment issues for employers and employees, as well as assisting senior partner Peter McCormick and senior associate Lewis Goodwin.
