GLOBAL intellectual property attorneys Murgitroyd has announced a new appointment to its York office.

Qualified UK and European Patent Attorney Keith Jones rejoins the firm in a director of patents role to support the continued growth of Murgitroyd's North of England operation.

The firm, which has two North of England offices in York and Newcastle, has continued to recruit and to grow its client base since the opening of these offices in 2005 (York) and 2008 (Newcastle).

Mr Jones specialises in electronics and software-based inventions and brings 28 years' experience to the role, gained with a number of UK patent firms, including Murgitroyd previously.

Murgitroyd has 13 European offices and two in the United States. It provides cross-sectoral expertise in engineering, ICT, software, oil and gas, renewable energy, life sciences, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, financial and professional services, fashion, music and entertainment.

A YORK hotel which undergoing a £3 million upgrade and expansion programme, has boosted its senior team with a new appointment.

Simon Cornish has joined the Best Western Monkbar Hotel as food and beverage manager, with responsibility for successfully launching a brand new dining experience once the work has been completed.

Mr Cornish began his career more than a decade ago in Manchester’s Malmaison Hotel as a sommelier and spent the last two years working as food and beverage manager at Leeds’ Weetwood Hall Hotel.

PARK Lodge Shooting School, based in West Cowick, East Yorkshire, has recently recruited two new members of staff to join its team as the business continues to grow.

Patrick McNeil, who trained at Selby College, has joined as chef in Park Lodge’s coffee shop/bistro, where he will work alongside consultant chef Mario Mariani to develop the existing menu.

Simon Wierslaw has joined as a groundsman and is responsible for the maintenance of the shooting ground. He takes over from John Chandler who has taken semi-retirement and is assisting in reception and organising group bookings. The new recruits will take the total number of employees at Park Lodge to four full time plus 12 part time shooting instructors.
