A SELBY firm specialising in gluten-free foods has made the shortlist of a national awards for produce made for people with restricted diets.

Feel Free For Gluten Free, the brand name for GF Foods, in Brackenholme Business Park, is on the shortlist alongside some national and international food brands in the 2015 Free From Food Awards.

With 15 categories, the awards shortlist contains 270 innovative free-from-food products, including Feel Free For Gluten Free’s frozen doughnuts, made without gluten and wheat, and their chocolate chip granola bars, which are free from gluten, wheat, dairy and oats.

Sally Allister, managing director of Feel Free For Gluten Free, who has coeliac disease and must follow a gluten-free diet herself, said: “The Free From Food Awards are the Oscars of the free-from world, so we’re absolutely thrilled to have made the shortlist. We’re alongside some huge national and international brands so we’re naturally proud of our relatively small company.

“One of our highlights of the last year has been the launch of our donuts. Gluten and wheat-free doughnuts aren’t readily available and the reaction to them was amazing.”

Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, director of the Free From Food Awards, which are being held in London on April 22, said: “With entries up by nearly 30 per cent this year, our 65 judges really had their work cut out .”
