A YORK firm of environmental consultants has won a regional award for its contribution towards flood risk management in East Yorkshire.
Barton Howe Associates, based at York Science Park, was named as the winner of the Sir John Fowler Award in the Institute of Civil Engineers Regional Awards.
The firm took the prize in recognition of the role it played in the River Hull Integrated Catchment Study, working with engineering consultancy Pell Frischmann Consultants, to contribute the environmental input to the strategic approach to flood risk management in East Yorkshire.
Commissioned by The River Hull Advisory Board in 2013, the flood risk management study looked at potential flood effects within the River Hull catchment area.
Barton Howe director John Micklethwaite-Howe, said: “We were delighted to have worked on this very important study of flood risk.”
