A TRAINING and interpretation business set up with support from the Government’s Enterprise Allowance Scheme has been visited by Selby MP Nigel Adams.

New start-up Castle Communication Services delivers training and interpretation provision for companies in Yorkshire to build the confidence of their staff who interact with deaf customers.

Set up by a daughter and mother team, Rachel and Colleen Hardcastle know only too well the challenges faced in daily life and business situations by the deaf community as Rachel is profoundly deaf herself.

Mr Adams said: “I am inspired when I meet people like Rachel, who have faced lifelong challenges, and who is now putting her experience to great use by starting a business to help others.

“I am also pleased the Government has backed the new company with Enterprise Allowance money to help the business grow.

“My first business back in the early 1990s benefited from the Enterprise Allowance and I hope Rachel and Colleen go on to achieve great things.”

Mr Adams has also invited Mrs and Miss Hardcastle to participate in a Disability Confident conference that he is organising in Selby on June 12.

The conference will provide information and advice to employers about how they can confidently employ staff with disability and highlighting the benefits of doing so to organisations.

On a separate business visit, Mr Adam was recently given a tour of bus manufacturer Optare’s factory in Sherburn-in-Elmet.

Mr Adams saw the latest all-electric buses as well as low emissions buses being manufactured for customers in the UK, London, South Africa and Australia.

Mr Adams said: “I was very impressed with the quality and design of the latest electric and low emissions buses .”
