A FISH and chip shop worker turned dog groomer has won a scholarship place with a German clipper brand.
Alison Burton, who launched Yor Dogs professional dog grooming in Haxby, is one of only five people in the country to be selected for training with grooming equipment manufacturer Aesculap.
The 41-year-old set up her dog grooming business in October last year after training for a change of career, having worked at a fish and chip shop for nine years.
She said: “To say I’m new to grooming I’m really pleased to have secured this scholarship.
“The Aesculap scholarship is a really big thing in our profession. I’m going to be trained by some of the top groomers in the country.”
