A NORTH Yorkshire insurance company has revealed it will be moving its operations to Brighton following a merger deal putting more than 150 jobs at risk.

Engage Mutual said over the next two to three years up to 163 Harrogate jobs may be lost following its merger with Family Investments, which is due to be completed on April 1.

In the deal, which was backed by 95 per cent of Engage’s members last year, the company’s £900 million in assets and 500,000 members join with Family’s £4.9 billion in assets and more than two million members.

Engage said it will gradually transfer the business to Brighton, with the move to be completed by the end of 2017.

While it said it will be offering staff relocation opportunities, Engage promised it won’t be make any redundancies until at least three months after the merger date.
