A BUSINESS competition held in York to seek out future accountancy talent saw a team from Harrogate Grammar School walk away with the prize.
The students from Harrogate Grammar beat off competition from seven other teams to win the York heat of the BASE national business competition run by chartered accountancy body, ICAEW.
The Harrogate pupils impressed the judges when taking on the role of ICAEW Chartered Accountants for the regional heat at York Racecourse, sending them through to the national final in June.
The students had less than two hours to analyse a business situation before presenting their ideas to a panel of business professionals including Adrian Rodaway of York Chartered Accountants HPH, and Sue Best, Marketing Director of ICAEW.
The BASE competition was supported by local firms including Aviva, CPP, Deloitte, Garbutt & Elliott, Hunter Gee Holroyd, HPH and KPMG, whose representatives acted as professional mentors and judges.
A team from Fulford School in York was runner-up.
