SELBY MP Nigel Adams has visited a beautician to find out how a start-up grant enabled her to turn a one bedroom flat into a salon.

Leeann Stobbs founded her beauty salon, Beauty Worx, with the help of a loan from the Government-backed Start Up Loans Company.

After completing beauty courses, and offering nail treatments in a hair salon in Carlton, Miss Stobbs was offered the opportunity to move her business into a flat behind the hairdresser.

With the help of her family, the salon’s owner Louise Holman, and funding from the Start Up Loans Company, the mother-of-three transformed the flat and Beauty Worx was born.

Mr Adams said: “I was delighted to visit Leeann and see a fantastic new business start up in our area with the help of a Government-backed start up loan.”

“Small businesses like Beauty Worx are the lifeblood of our local economy and while I didn’t have the nerve to have any treatments myself, I am sure with Leeann’s skills and enthusiasm, the business will do well and thrive.”
