A LAWYER from a York firm of solicitors has been named as the new regional chairman for the Institute of Director's Yorkshire and Humber branch.

Jonathan Oxley, director of corporate finance at Lupton Fawcett Denison Till, has been acting regional chairman since Peter Holmes stepped down from the role at the Institute of Directors (IoD) last year.

Mr Oxley, who also chairs the West Yorkshire branch, is a former managing partner of Lee & Priestley , who has worked in York, Bradford, and Leeds for more than two decades.

Mr Oxley said: "I’m looking forward to working with our regional director, Natalie Sykes and the Yorkshire branch chairs to deliver our director development programme.

"One of my main focuses will be to ensure that the views of IoD members in our region are communicated to our headquarters in Pall Mall and onwards to government through the regular meetings that the IoD leadership has with ministers."

IoD regional director Natalie Sykes said: "Jonathan has already demonstrated during his time as acting chair that he has the skills and experience to lead the IoD in Yorkshire and the Humber.

"He will be the voice of the IoD in the region and promote our profile by engaging with local businesses and stakeholders including the LEPs, public sector bodies and universities."

Mr Oxley will be speaking to IoD members at a Masterclass event following a tour of Bradford-based Seabrook’s Crisps today.

The IoD is the UK’s longest running organisation for professional leaders. It has 34,500 members through 48 regional branches across the UK.
