A YORK development company looking to build a new village on the outskirts of Knaresborough is continuing consultations into its 2,500 homes plan.

Skelwith has launched a dedicated consultation website to accompany its plans for the redevelopment of Flaxby Golf Course.

Along with new homes, the development will also include new community facilities including a primary school, a village centre with shops, a medical centre and business units. A hotel will also form the heart of the masterplan.

To ensure the new homes are as accessible as possible significant new bus provision will also be provided.

The launch of the website comes after Skelwith held its first public exhibition session on December 16, which saw more than 150 people attend.

Paul Ellis, managing director of Skelwith, said: "We want to get as much feedback as possible on our plans, and the new consultation website provides another tool to keep people updated and for them to give us feedback.

"We are especially keen to hear what local residents would like to see as part of the village centre.

"This will form the heart of the development and a focal point for the community."

Along with the public consultation pre-application meetings are also being held with the local authorities and other statutory consultees.
