AN Acomb garage has closed its doors after almost 30 years in business.
Customers of Central Body Repairs York Ltd on Acomb Green are 'devastated' by its closure, says owner John Richardson.
He said the garage was opened by his father, also called John, in 1986 and it built up a good customer base over the years from across the Acomb, Foxwood and Chapelfields area.
"I started as an apprentice in 1988 and then took it over from my father a year or two ago after he fell ill and then died," he said.
He said it had had to close after the lease on the forecourt, which provided access and parking for the business, expired.
He appealed for anyone with suitable premises in western York to which he might re-locate the business to get in touch on 01904 791176.
