YORK-based developer Skelwith has moved into new offices as the company continues to grow.

Skelwith has bought a new office at York Business Park, in Poppleton, following the sale of its old headquarters in Bootham.

The firm had been based at the Aspire offices since they completed the mixed used development in 2011, but have now sold their site to Stonegrave Properties, a York property investment company, to secure more space and plan for future expansion of the business.

The move follows Skelwith appointing its first in-house architect Richard Hirst, who previously worked for Leeds based architect Brewster Bye, and is overseeing the design elements of a number of Skelwith projects.

Paul Ellis, managing director of Skelwith, said: "This move heralds an exciting new era for the company. We have been very active, despite uncertain economic times in recent years, and we are now set to move to the next level.

"We are looking to add to our strong core team and have some very exciting projects in our development pipeline. This move will allow us the flexibility and space to expand and reach our full potential.

"Last year was a good period for Skelwith, and everyone is looking forward to making 2015 even better."

Current projects include the Flaxby site near Harrogate which could deliver up to 2,500 homes, continuing development at its Raithwaite Estate on the East Coast, the former Wills and Ellis site in Poppleton, alongside various other mixed use and residential schemes.

A major replanning exercise is also underway for a large site in Bradford, while the company says it is also close to securing a "very high profile" redevelopment in York city centre.
