A SPECIALIST fireplace retailer has been overwhelmed with the start to life it has made since opening a new showroom in York – achieving turnover double the ambitious targets set when moving into the city.
Flames of York opened in Layerthorpe in early October, looking to build on 10 years of success in Hull, where the business was established by brothers-in-law Andy Blakeston and Pete Brown in 2004.
Mr Brown, pictured above left with Craig Atkinson, said: "York is already looking a tremendous success for us. It was a big decision to expand the business and open a second showroom last year, but we are looking at the results so far and wondering why we didn’t do it any earlier.
"We set ourselves ambitious targets for the new York businesses, as we invested heavily in getting the right premises."
