A £350 investment in new computer operated machinery has been made by Ripon-based Latham Logging.
The business, which operates felling and time extraction services, has made the six-figured investment as it prepares to expand its operations across the UK.
The family run firm currently works for estates and private owners with clients including Yorkshire Water, Scottish Woodlands and the Forestry Commission.
Paula Latham said the investment would support plans to increase productivity and introduce more accurate harvesting methods into the business's operations.
She said: “The new machinery has a sophisticated computer system which sends information to the harvesting head to set optimum cutting specification for greatest productivity.
"It then cuts the timber down automatically to the correct lengths ready for extraction to a sawmill."
Latham Logging part-funded the project itself with the remainder financed through Yorkshire funding specialist RedSky.
