A YORK businesswoman is in the running to be named Entrepreneur of the Year at a national awards.

Kate Lovett, who is company director of EDGE Services, which offers moving and handling training, is a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category at healthcare expert LaingBuisson’s Independent Specialist Care Awards 2015.

In its fifth year, the LaingBuisson Independent Specialist Care Awards celebrates the specialist care sector and its major achievements.

The finalists have been chosen in recognition for their innovation and excellence in the sector, and have been shortlisted for a wide range of accolades which include; excellence in dementia care, care home provider and home care.

Ms Lovett said she is "thrilled" to have been shortlisted as Entrepreneur of the Year. She said: "Just to be a finalist in this category at this prestigious event feels like an incredible achievement. I am really looking forward to meeting the other finalists at the awards ceremony in the New Year."

The winners at the Independent Specialist Care Awards will be announced at a black tie gala dinner to be held at the London Lancaster Hotel on March 11 next year.

EDGE services was founded more than 15 years ago and provides people handling training, with its People Handling course and Understanding and Managing Behaviour that Challenges course both professionally endorsed and academically accredited by professional bodies as all of its training events are delivered by qualified healthcare professionals including nurses, physiotherapists or occupational therapists.
