A YORK family-run car sales and service firm is investing £100,000 in new premises as it embarks upon is a new growth drive.

DG Dale as acquired two new business units at Escrick Business Park on the A19, which will become its new headquarters from January.

The family business, which was founded by Derek and Mary Dale and has been trading in the area since 1959, has seen a 20 per cent growth in both its sales and servicing operations in 2014.

With the financial support of parents Ian and Tricia Dale, Nick and his brother James have acquired the freehold of the two 2500 sq ft units which they are converting into an indoor 20 car showroom and fully equipped service workshops.

Nick Dale said: "Our business has progressed from selling mainly Vauxhall cars to offering a wide range or low-mileage marques.

"We are currently selling well over 300 units a year. We have literally thousands of service customers and we needed the move to the kind of space which reflects the high standards on which our business has grown over 55 years."

The move also takes the brothers closer to their firm's roots as the business traded from Stillingfleet from 1962.

Ian and Tricia Dale took over the reins of the company from Ian’s parents in 1987 and moved to Crockey Hill in 2003.

Only two warehousing units now remain at Escrick Business Park which already houses a range of UK and international businesses in the healthcare, renewable energy, construction, rail and technology sectors.

Phil Hill, of S Harrison, which owns the park, said: "As a family business ourselves with a history dating back to the 1950s, we’re delighted to welcome DG Dale to Escrick Business Park.

"They will add an extra vibrancy to the thriving business community we have here in both our office and warehousing units."

Emma Warner, commercial property partner at Langley Solicitors in York acted for S Harrison. DG Dale were advised by Kelly Buckle Fleming of Coles Solicitors and Penny Eadle of Ware and Kay.

James Dale said: "It’s been a fantastic team effort with all parties pulling together to get everything in place and now provides the perfect base from which to embark on our latest expansion drive."
