Company appointed to build city flats complex A NORTH Yorkshire company has been appointed to build a complex of eight flats for the city council.
Malton-based Transcore will construct two-bedroomed apartments at Hewley Avenue, in the east of York, as part of the first phase in the council’s housebuilding programme, planned to deliver 70 new council houses this financial year.
Work will start mid December on the flats which will be built to lifetime homes standards, with fuel efficiency, insulation, and energy efficient boilers. The company’s Peter Ruanesaid said they were committed to using local sub-contractors and suppliers, and had set up two apprenticeships with York College for the project.
