CABLE cleats manufactured in Rillington are to be used in the construction of King Abdulaziz International Airport, which is currently being built near the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah.

The order win for Ellis was secured through the company’s Saudi distributor, Riyadh-based Mena Arabia.

Installation of the products is currently underway, and is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2015, with the airport expected to open at the end of the same year.

Tony Conroy, export director for Ellis, said: “The airport is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the world today and securing such significant involvement in it is a resounding endorsement of our strategy of appointing local distributors in key export markets.

“As with so many of the export orders we secure, the market knowledge and expertise our local distributor, in this case Mena Arabia, brought to the table proved absolutely vital in delivering the specification."

Ellis’ Emperor cable cleats were specified by Jeddah-based Inma Contracting, and are being installed in load centres and utility service tunnels throughout the airport.

Mr Conroy added: "Our Emperor cleats have been tried, tested and have delivered in some of the most demanding environments on the planet.

"They have also passed the most stringent of short-circuit tests, and safely secure cables in some of the largest developments of recent generations."
