FOUR new jobs have been created in York as global car hire company Enterprise Rent-A-Car opens a new branch at the city's railway station.
The firm targeted the site after seeing increasing demand for its car rental services from business customers and tourists at its two existing branches in York.
Four new jobs have been created in the branch, part of more than 100 positions which have been generated by Enterprise in the north of England this year.
One of the positions will be for a graduate who will be part of Enterprise’s nationwide Management Trainee Programme.
Brian Waligora, general manager of Enterprise in the north of England said: "Thousands of people go through York train station every day and for many, hiring a car is the most flexible and practical choice for onward travel.
"We hope that we can play a part in aiding the thriving tourist industry in York and the surrounding countryside by offering visitors flexible options for exploring the area.
"It’s pleasing to see the company performing strongly in the north of England and creating job opportunities for people in the region.
"We look forward to welcoming visitors to York and local residents to the branch, and to having new members of the team."
The new site adds to Enterprise’s network of more than 370 locations throughout the UK.
