YORK engineering firm Omnicom has been selected to feature as part of a national innovation festival in London.

Omnicom, which produces hardware and software for the transportation sector, will join the University of Huddersfield, Doncaster-based Transpix, Deramore-based Cybula, Sheffield University, Sheffield-based Litecool and West Yorkshire-based Medical Technologies IKC in representing Yorkshire at this year's Innovate UK.

All 120 high-growth exhibitors had to pass a stringent application process before being selected to appear at the event on November 5 and 6 at Old Billingsgate in London.

Innovate UK takes place annually and is jointly hosted by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Innovate UK, the new name for the Technology Strategy Board.

It is the UK’s largest multi-sector conference and exhibition for entrepreneurs, innovators, exporters and investors, and is set to attract 3,000 attendees, including investors, representatives from government and academia, and international visitors from 30 markets including Brazil, China, Japan and the USA.

Iain Gray, Chief Executive of Innovate UK, said: "The UK is brilliant at innovation and the calibre of exhibitors at this year’s event is testament not only to the UK’s position as a world class centre of excellence, but also the extent to which we are supporting, encouraging and facilitating business growth and technological advancement.

"Having access to the right funding, connections and support is essential for businesses to succeed in today’s global economy, and Innovate UK is playing an integral role in driving and accelerating growth for companies such as these."
