A TECHNOLOGY expo which attracts more than 1,400 delegates is coming to North Yorkshire as part of plans to expand in the North of England.

The organisers of Convergence Summit North have signed a three year deal which will see the two-day show move to Harrogate International Centre (HIC) in 2015 following seven years in Manchester.

In 2014 the event attracted 70 exhibitors and around 1400 experts in the field of communication and IT sales.

HIC director, Simon Kent said: “This is a great win for us because it ticks a lot of boxes; one of our business goals is to sign new clients for a minimum of three years. Convergence Summit North have put their faith in us and done exactly that.

"But we also have a long and proven track record in Harrogate of nurturing small and medium sized events exactly like this one. We have success stories here which started out using just one of our halls and have since expanded to become leading European industry events such as The Golf Show, which attracts thousands of buyers and PGA professionals every year.

"We are really looking forward to hosting Convergence Summit North in 2015 and it’s going to give us a lot of satisfaction helping it to grow. It’s good for HIC, good for Harrogate and obviously good for our client."

The Harrogate event on March 17 and 18 is a sister show to Convergence Summit South, which takes place in October and has been established for more than a decade. Show organiser, Swink Events describe the summits as ‘conference-orientated exhibitions’.

Swink Events marketing manager Liz Connor said: "We hold two events each year for the UK comms, IT and mobile trade channel and we are delighted to be moving our northern exhibition to the beautiful town of Harrogate."
