A YORK-based developer has scooped two national Master Builder of the Year Awards.

Northmead Developments took prizes for Best Kitchen and Best Small Renovation Project in Yorkshire and Trent, in the awards organised by the Federation of Master Builders.

With all nominations coming from clients, builders are judged on their all-round performance including technical ability together with customer service skills, attention to detail and the end result of the project.

Northmead Developments, which is based in Stillington, will now go through to compete in the national finals, the winners of which will be announced by TV presenter and architecture enthusiast Charlie Luxton at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on February 18.

Steve Laurence, federation service director for Yorkshire and Trent said: "The Master Builder of the Year Awards give clients the opportunity to celebrate a job well done and to say thank you to their builder.

"For the building industry it is an opportunity to celebrate all that is good about small local builders and their importance to the recovering UK economy.

"Time and time again we have been impressed with just how far these builders will go to ensure their client is happy. It is this dedication that we want to celebrate.

"Northmead Developments should feel justly proud of its achievement in winning the Kitchen of the Year and Small Renovation Project of the Year Awards, and we wish them every success in the national competition."

If Northmead Developments wins the overall Master Builder of the Year title, it will drive away in the top prize of a brand new commercial vehicle, while the clients who nominated them wins a £3,000 cash prize.
