A CITY centre office building is now fully occupied as a global engineering and development consultancy expands its operation in York.

Evans Property Group has secured the final occupier for the Quartz Point office building in Stonebow in the form of Mott MacDonald, which has leased 3,900 sq ft until September 2021 at an initial annual rent of £62,900 per annum.

York commercial agents, Lawrence Hannah Ltd, which is joint agent on Quartz Point with Flanagan James, represented Evans Property Group with the Leeds office of DTZ representing the tenant.

Mott MacDonald is expanding its York operation by taking the accommodation in addition to its existing nearby regional office at Saviour House.

Miles Lawrence at Lawrence Hannah, said: "I am delighted that Quartz Point is now 100 per cent occupied by a strong tenant line up.

"The proximity to Mott MacDonald’s existing office was certainly a factor in this new tenancy but the quality and design of Quartz Point were undoubtedly the prevailing principals in their decision to expand their operation into this building."

Quartz Point is an 11,546 sq ft office building in The Stonebow, immediately opposite the Hungate area of York where a £150 million residential and leisure quarter is being developed, in partnership with Evans Property Group. The office building is also home to BUPA and Pryers Solicitors.

Alan Syers, portfolio director at Evans Property Group, said: "Quartz Point has proven to be a welcome addition to the York office market where there is limited new supply of Grade A stock within the traditional heart of the city centre.

"The key positioning of the offices will become further boosted by the extensive development of the Hungate regeneration scheme which will add to the vibrancy of the whole area."
