A GRADUATION ceremony is being held in York to celebrate the success of over 1000 York apprentices and the businesses that employ them.

The York Minster event on November 17 will see graduating apprentices will receive certificates from a Master Guild and hear from inspirational speakers.

New for this year will also be the presentation of four ‘York Apprenticeship Awards’. Nominations are being accepted for the following categories: York Apprentice of the Year (aged 16-24), York Apprentice of the Year (aged 25+), York Small Employer of the Year (with less than 250 employees) and York Large Employer of the Year (with 250 + employees).

The deadline for nominations is Friday, October 17. Award winners will receive an iPad Mini.

Guests at the event will include apprentices who live locally, and those who have completed their Apprenticeship in York during the last year, as well as their friends, family employer and training provider.

Cllr Janet Looker, cabinet member for education, children and young people, said: “ As a city, we are keen to celebrate achievement and to recognise the benefits of this route into work for individual apprentices and employers."
