TRAINS calling at York will be given a share of almost £8million after a rail operator announced it is set to invest heavily in its services.
Grand Central Rail will pour £7.8million into its fleet and the stations it serves over the next 12twelve years. In August 2014, the company received official notice that its application for an extended ten- year operating contract had been agreed by the Office of Rail Regulation, allowing it to run trains between London, the North East and Yorkshire until 2026.
Bosses will now concentrate on reliability and comfort , as well as encouraging future economic growth in the communities it serves.
Grand Central will host informal drop-in events throughout October to allow customers to comment on their plans.
Events are taking place in Thirsk on October 16 and York on October 22.
