MANUFACTURING businesses across the region are being invited to find out how to take advantage of new multi-million pound opportunities.

City of York Council has teamed up with the Manufacturing Advice Service (MAS) to host a free breakfast event to offer advice to small and medium-sized manufacturers on how to deal with larger companies and tap into new projects in sectors including automotive, nuclear, offshore wind and rail.

Held on October 7 at the Nestle Research and Development Centre, the event will feature advisors who will be on hand to talk about getting the business supply chain ready.

They will also showcase other funding opportunities, such as GROW:OffshoreWind that is currently offering up to £500,000 grants to help firms with relocation, acquisition of capital equipment and Research and Development projects.

Councillor James Alexander, leader of the council, said: "This promises to be a positive event for businesses who are looking to improve and grow their business.

"MAS is England’s leading advice service for manufacturing and can make sure businesses are in a position to take advantage of potential supply chain opportunities in the city as well as overseas. This event looks to help businesses access funding as they look to secure jobs and growth which is positive for the city.”
