YORK headquartered chocolate manufacturer Nestlé has been named as one of the best employers of apprentices in the region.

The company, which has a factory in Haxby Road, was highly commended in the BT Macro Employer of the Year category at the Yorkshire and Humberside ceremony , which forms part of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2014.

Nick Wilson, deputy director of Employer & Delivery Services in Yorkshire and Humber at the Skills Funding Agency, said: "The National Apprenticeship Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to recognise exceptional apprentices and employers, and I would like to congratulate all the outstanding individuals and employers at the Yorkshire and Humber event.

"We want it to become the norm for young people to choose between an apprenticeship or university as equally prestigious routes to a great career and a secure financial future.

“I would like to thank all those who received an award on the night for their commitment to apprenticeships, and the part they play in building a bright future for our country.”
