A YORK construction firm has been given a higher accreditation in honour of its environmentally friendly credentials.

Lindum York has achieved ‘Silver’ level accreditation from Investors in the Environment following the firm's annual assessment.

The award comes only a year after the business achieved the bronze award.

The assessment carried out by Investors in the Environment recognised the company’s "clear environmental policy" and recorded a range of results measuring a decrease in the use of energy and paper and, although higher water consumption and vehicle mileage were shown, these reflected the significant increase in both workload and employee numbers since the last audit and, in fact, showed the business to be operating more efficiently in these areas.

Neil Coote, director for Lindum York, said: "Achieving ‘Silver’ only 12 months after our ‘Bronze’ award is a fantastic achievement and reflects our commitment to reducing the impact of our operation on the environment.

"With a far greater number of construction sites in operation and a larger workforce it is reassuring to know that we are continuing to operate efficiently and meet our environmental improvement targets. "
