TWO York solicitors are celebrating promotions this summer. Ellie Milner in the private client unit and Sarah Valentine in insurance at Langleys have both been promoted to Associate Solicitor.

NATIONAL property consultancy Carter Jonas has promoted senior associate Dan Taylor within its expanding rural land and business team in North Yorkshire, making him made partner of the firm’s rural division based in York.

Mr Taylor joined Carter Jonas in late 2008, becoming a senior associate in 2011.

A registered RICS valuer, Mr Taylor is an agent for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC) and provides advice on farm finance throughout Yorkshire and the North.

 

BHP Barron & Barron has announced the appointment of new partner Daniel Sowden.

Mr Sowden, who will be based in the firm’s York office, will advise owner-managed businesses in the SME sector, support the firm’s agriculture and landed estates team and lead the firm’s service offering to the leisure and tourism industry.

LAW firm Andrew Jackson announces that Nick Fraser is returning to the firm as a consultant.

Formerly an employment and pensions lawyer with the firm, which has an office at York Science Park, Mr Fraser has for the past 10 years worked in the role of in-house solicitor and group company secretary for the UK operations of German pharmaceuticals and chemicals company Merck KGaA.

VANTAGE Motor Group has appointed a Business Centre and Business Development manager to drive sales in its Toyota dealerships across North Yorkshire.

Ian Johnstone, from Haxby, York, will be responsible for delivering fleet area sales objectives across the three Vantage Toyota dealerships in Knaresborough, Scarborough and York.

A retired RAF officer, Mr Johnstone's previous role was as the Dealership and Sales manager at a classic car restoration and sales dealership.

 

SOUTH MILFORD-based Best Western Plus Milford Hotel, near Selby, has expanded its catering team at its new-look Watermill Restaurant with the appointment of Brazilian-born Rafael Da Silva as chef de partie.

Mr Da Silva will work alongside the five-strong team at the Watermill Restaurant, which has recently undergone a five-figure programme of refurbishment.

He joins the three-star hotel from Oulton Hall, where he was chef de partie and prior to that held a supervisory management role with Nando's, Leeds.
