THE first company to move into York Science Park's IT Centre is relocating to bigger premises after 11 years of growth.

Staying within the Science Park, York Data Services is moving to Innovation Close to accommodate its growing team, which had doubled in the last two years.

Established in 2003, York Data Services' first contract was to provide connectivity and data services to the Science Parks’ new IT Centre building, and was subsequently appointed as the official supplier to the whole of York Science Park and its customer base.

The company then expanded its offering into other business parks and organisations with multiple occupancy buildings and sites in York, North Yorkshire, Leeds, Manchester and now London.

Mark Fordyce, managing director of York Data Services, said: "We first chose to base ourselves at York Science Park as it was a vibrant, up and coming area for the bioscience and technology sectors.

"It has proved a great place for us to be and has become synonymous with our business.

"We pride ourselves on being a national company which offers a local service, and as we invest further in the company’s growth it makes sense for us to continue to be based here."

Tracey Smith, managing director, York Science Park added: "York Data Services is one of the great success stories of York Science Park and we are very happy that they have chosen to stay on the Science Park as they continue to expand.

"They provide our residents with a resilient service and it’s great to acknowledge their success as they grow their business base nationally."
