A THIRSK-based firm specialising in wireless live video is helping local authorities tackle anti social behaviour.

Vemotion has deployed its mobile CCTV recording technology after winning orders from both Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and the London Borough of Bromley.

Vemotion has now been installed in a number of different situations by Wakefield, including problem public conveniences in remote local parklands and protecting residents at housing association properties supplementing the housing association’s own security of the facility.

Stewart McCone, managing director of Vemotion said: "Wakefield is faced with the classic modern day safety and security challenges of a large, metropolitan area.

"With increasing scrutiny on the allocation of resources, managers need to be able to provide quick technology fixes that don’t mean major additional capex spend.

"he beauty of Vemotion is flexibility: it can be used to react to day to day operational problems, as well as included in an overall strategic CCTV deployment plan.”

The London borough of Bromley has solved some specific safety and security issues, including fly tipping and anti-social behaviour thanks to Vemotion.

The firm's low bandwidth transmission technology was sited in hotspots around the borough with dramatic effects.

Clients are also seeing opportunities to use the technology in new and creative ways, with Bromley using Vemotion for flood detection and prevention in South Bromley, where the local police have asked the authority to monitor for local pipe bursts.

Mr McCone added: "“Vemotion will work on any mobile network and can be dialled into from anywhere with any device, subject to the necessary authorisation."
