STUDENTS at Selby College have been given some brand new green technology by a local company.

The biomass boiler and solar PV panel were donated to the college's plumbing and electrical courses by A Shade Greener Ltd, which provide them to properties off the mains gas network around the region.

Ian Muir, deputy director in charge of the college’s Powerskills department, said: "We are extremely grateful to A Shade Greener Ltd for generously donating what amounts to tens of thousands of pounds worth of equipment to further the learning experience of students at college.

"At college we continually review our teaching to ensure it is relevant, up-to-date and meets existing industry practices. We achieve this by creating partnerships with local, regional and national employers and this is a great example of how the college and employers can work in partnership to benefit young people in learning."
