YORK ice cream manufacturer Yorvale has won a contract to supply ice cream to one of the largest chains of garden centres in the UK.

Yorvale ice cream, made at Acaster Malbis, will feature on the restaurant menu at eight centres operated by British Garden Centres (BGC).

The ice cream firm's sales and marketing director, Lesley Buxton, said: "We're delighted to be supplying British Garden Centres. They are a family business like ours and share our pride in traditional family values and the use of quality ingredients in their restaurants."

Meanwhile, Yorvale is celebrating its 25th anniversary by holding a competition to win a prize including a visit to the dairy farm and a choice of Yorvale ice cream. Children are invited to enter with a short story of up to two sides of A4 or a picture of their mascot Friesan cow, Yorry, by October 31.
