INDEPENDENT York hair salon Bang has turned the heads of Britain’s hair-dressing experts by winning two national awards this year and being in the running for a third top title.

The Low Petergate-based business was voted No 1 Salon in the North East at the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final.

Creative director Sarah Cotton and top stylist Amanda Benn led the team to victory at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. watched by more than 1,000 industry figures.

Mrs Cotton said: “Hearing our name called out as the winner was one of the most overwhelming experiences of my life. This is a major competition to win and a huge career highlight for Amanda, myself and our business.”

Bang’s business director and Sarah’s husband Jonathan Cotton said: “The whole team deserve to share in the glory of this huge win. They work hard together and support each other every day, whether it’s salon life or competition workThey are an awesome unit and I am so proud of them all.”

Bang created a super cool model look to win the latest award. Earlier this year, Bang was named Yorkshire Hair Salon of the Year at the English Hair and Beauty Awards. In September they will be travelling to London as UK finalists at Creative Head Magazine’s UK’s Most Wanted Awards for Best Salon Experience.
