A FORMER motorbike racer turned entrepreneur is launching a new accommodation business after transforming a double decker bus into a mobile hotel.

Oliver Kemp has created BEDROAM; a business based on his new concept of taking a bus and turning it into a hotel featuring a first class cabin, 18 sleeping pods, two bathrooms and a covered outdoor space.

Mr Kemp, who works in his family’s farming business in Melbourne, near York, spotted a gap in the market for BEDROAM as a result of spending many years roughing it at motorbike events and festivals around the UK.

Following a serious motorbike racing accident, he was recovering in hospital and took inspiration from a magazine article which was celebrating the growth of the live events industry but commenting on the difficulties of finding good accommodation close by.

After attracting the attention of television producers Mr Kemp now is due to feature on Channel 4's 'George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces' on Thursday.

Mr Kemp said: "For many people who attend festivals and events, in my case motorbike races, finding suitable accommodation, but still being close to the action, can be impossible.

"The live events industry is thriving yet many people don’t want to rough it, hence my idea to create BEDROAM.

"It has been fantastic that Channel 4 decided to feature us as one of their ‘Amazing Spaces’ and gives us an brilliant start to launch BEDROAM from.”
