A YORK-based holiday park operator has taken its portfolio of sites to ten following the acquisition of a site in the Yorkshire Dales.
Park Leisure, based at York Business Park, has purchased Hawkswick Cote Park through Colliers International's Leeds office which sold the site
on behalf of Bridge Leisure Management.
The deal follows Park Leisure's purchase of Malvern View Country Estate earlier this year.
Miles Dewhurst, managing director of Park Leisure, said: "The location of the park is stunning and we will endeavor, with a considerate investment programme, to enhance it further into its natural landscape."
The sale of the park, which includes 153 pitches, a separate camping field and a traditional stone owner’s house, followed "inviting offers" from a "variety of sources", according to Colliers.
Richard Moss, director of specialist parks, Colliers International, said: "Transactions of this type of property are up year-on-year when compared with the same period in 2012.
"Year-to-date, the Colliers’ specialist parks team has valued 60 caravan parks, of which 42 have been transactional.
"Compare this with the 51 caravan parks valued in the same period in 2013, of which only 10 were transactional; and it is clear that there is increased market activity in the sector."
