THE company behind a golf club east of York is celebrating the completion of a woodland lodges project following more than £1 million of investment.

The KP in Pocklington is popular with golfers and is now seeing an increase in business and leisure guests following the completion of its phased accommodation complex development.

The site, which boasts 26 two, three and four bedroomed luxury woodland lodges is already fully booked months ahead on weekends, with New Year breaks also almost completely sold out.

The KP is also reporting an increasing corporate customer base.

Emily Stephenson, events and marketing manager at The KP, says the facility is reaping the rewards from taking a "leap of faith" when deciding to become more than a golf club.

She said: "From the very start, the ambition at The KP has been to provide first-class facilities to match the stunning setting we are very fortunate to have here.

“It has been a steady process in terms of spreading the word, and the development has been phased carefully to ensure we have grown at a sensible rate.

“We started with our first lodges in 2009 and at that time we had just 10. Now, following the completion of our expansion of our accommodation, we have 26 lodges and 28 hotel rooms and suites in total.

“To think we started by opening our first facility, the Glasshouse restaurant in May 2008, we can look back and see how far we have come and feel proud at how popular all aspects of the business are now proving.”
