A SCARBOROUGH based generator and power supplier has made its first acquisition since it completed its management buyout in 2012.

Dale Power Solutions has taken over the service, maintenance, spares and future new builds business of Banbury-based Swan Generators for an undisclosed sum.

The deal follows Dale's management buyout from TT electronics in August 2012 backed by mid-market private equity provider LDC.

The acquisition of Swan was completed this month and involved the transfer of the firm's maintenance contracts and service responsibilities to Dale Power Solutions.

The current service and maintenance contracts will be incorporated into Dale’s 100-strong service division and all new contracts for product will also be supplied under the Dale brand name.

Denzil Lee, Dale’s chairman, said: “Since the buyout the company has been restructured and it is now in a position to efficiently assimilate new development opportunities provided by acquisition as well as its plans for organic growth. Swan is the first of an active programme of acquisition on which the company is embarking.”

Founded in 1935 as a diesel generator manufacturer, Dale Power Solutions has grown into a manufacturer of both generators and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems that manage and provide back-up electricity.

It manufactures generators at its two factories in Scarborough to provide emergency power to businesses such as hospitals and data centres when mains electricity is lost.

Last year Dale made The Sunday Times International Track 200 table for export as the 60th fastest growing export company in the UK.
